We appreciate your ongoing involvement in the legislative process.

Advocacy Update

We have reached that point in the legislative session that everyone is looking for a boat to jump into. We have multiple bills that have been combined into other bills, either in part or in entirety. I would direct all of our members to the LeadingAge Nebraska Legislative Tracker that is developed by our contract lobbyist at Jensen Rogert Associates. This document contains detailed information on the current status of all the bills we have been tracking throughout the session and where they ended up. We sincerely appreciate the coordination and support with our lobbyist and the work they have done for us during the session. We appreciate your ongoing involvement in the legislative process.

We are nearing the 2026 Primary Elections in Nebraska, which are coming up on May 12th. Half of our legislative seats (even numbered districts) are up for election. Now is the time to get to know your statewide and district candidates! You can find the statewide Primary Candidate Filing list here

Following the primary election, we will be kicking off our annual contribution campaign for the Friends of LeadingAge Nebraska Political Action Committee. Every contribution, no matter the size, provides us with an opportunity to make an impact on the political process. Any member of LeadingAge Nebraska may contribute to the PAC. Under the IRS code, all 501(c)(3) organizations are prohibited from directly or indirectly participating; however, employees of those organizations can provide a personal contribution. Providing a contribution to the LeadingAge Nebraska PAC provides support for our advocacy efforts on behalf of aging services providers in our state. If you would like to provide a contribution, please visit the Friends of LeadingAge Nebraska website

Visit the Advocacy Page on LeadingAge Nebraska's website for more information and links.

LeadingAge Action Alerts: You will find all the current national action alerts for topics that concern aging services, older adults, workforce and families across the country. Remember to check back often for the latest updates.

CMS Permitting More Services to be Offered Outpatient CMS has proposed its Calendar Year 2027 Outpatient Prospective Payment System rule to continue to phase out procedures and services from the Inpatient Only List. These are services/procedures that previously could only be provided on an inpatient hospital basis. These changes have potential impacts on Skilled Nursing Facility and Home Health agency admissions. For more details, check out the full article here which includes a link to the list of 638 procedures to be removed in 2027.
