Behind every successful advocate is a strong relationship—and knowing how to build one is the key to lasting influence. This lively session will take you behind the scenes of policymaking to s how what elected officials and their staff really want to hear, and how to make every interaction count. Whether you’re new to advocacy or ready to take your influence to the next level, this session will help you communicate with confidence, build authentic connections, and strengthen your voice for aging services. Participants will learn:
- Understanding your audience: What matters to policymakers
- How to get a meeting and prepare effectively
- The importance of follow-up, gratitude, and relationship building
- Communicating with senators outside your jurisdiction
- Thoughts from a former Senator
- Homework: Make your appointment for January 15th
