Final HHVBP July 2026 IPR's Published
The Final July 2026 Interim Performance Reports (IPRs) for the expanded Home Health Value Based Purchasing Model have been published in iQIES. The quarterly IPRs provide home health agencies (HHAs) performance year measure data based on measure-specific 12-month and 24-month reporting periods and the interim Total Performance Score (TPS). Using the IPRs, an HHA can assess and track their performance relative to peers in their respective cohort throughout the expanded Model performance year. The October 2026 IPRs will be the first IPRs to generate improvement, achievement, and care points based on the CY 2026 applicable measure set. At the end of August, home health agencies will receive their Annual Performance Report which will include the preview of the annual payment adjustment for CY2027 based on an agency's performance in CY2025. Instructions for how to access your agency's IPR are available here.
Medicare Part A Cost Report Overpayment Default Recoupment Date Extended
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced in an August 7 MLNMatters newsletter that they are extending the Healthcare Integrated General Ledger Accounting System default recoupment date for Past A cost report overpayments from 16 to 41 calendar days after the demand date. This change will take effect January 4, 2027 and affects home health agencies, hospices, and skilled nursing facilities, among other providers billing Medicare Part A. CMS states that this change aligns with default recoupment dates for Medicare Part B overpayments. For Part A cost report overpayments that are not paid in full by day 40, recoupment will begin on day 41 unless the overpayment falls into an excluded category. For more information, refer to MM14457 or contact your Medicare Administrative Contractor.
Hospice Preview Reports for the November 2026 Refresh
Hospices can now access the latest Provider Preview Reports via iQIES. These reports contain provider performance scores for quality measures, which will be published on the compare tool on Medicare.gov and the Provider Data Catalog (PDC) during the November 2026 refresh. In the Provider Preview Reports, CAHPS measure scores are based on CAHPS data submitted from Quarter 1, 2024 through Quarter 4, 2025. CAHPS Star Ratings are calculated based on data from Quarter 4, 2023 through Quarter 3, 2025. The claims-based measures reflect claims data collected from Quarter 1, 2024 through Quarter 4, 2025. Once released in iQIES, providers will have a total of 60 days to review reports. CMS encourages providers to download and save their Hospice Provider Preview Reports for future reference, as they will no longer be available in iQIES after this 60-day period.
