CMS Releases 2025 Hospice Information Gathering Report

In a new report released by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) on January 14, Abt Global reviews peer-reviewed and grey literature published over the last 12 months on topics relating to hospice services. The report focuses on three key areas, hospice use covering enrollment and duration of length of stay, hospice care delivery and how care was provided to patients during their hospice stay, and caregiver supports or the types of support caregivers would like, are being offered, and overall experience of care. Key take aways from the 30 articles reviewed by the report include approaches to care for specific populations like those experiencing homelessness, looking at training approaches that incorporate goal-concordant care, and a look at negative associations with hospice care when it is delivered in a facility rather than the home.
