LeadingAge Nebraska Nurse Leadership Academy - 2023/2024
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE INDIVIDUALS SELECTED FOR THE FIRST ACADEMY! The LeadingAge Nebraska Nurse Leadership Academy is designed for nurses that are new to the field of long-term care or new to nurse leadership. Nurse leaders are in high demand and often enter leadership positions without direct knowledge of all the complexities of these positions. There are a number of skills that leaders in these positions need to know and understand when stepping into these roles. The purpose of the Nurse Leadership Academy is to provide global training on a variety of skills and information that allow nurses to take on and continue in these positions with confidence and the ability to meet the needs of their community. Through the Nurse Leadership Academy, nurses will be provided with a network of colleagues and professional support across the state that will be able to provide mentorship and ongoing support throughout their career. The Academy will combine formal instruction with team building, mentoring and ongoing support for future success. Candidates will meet on a monthly basis, online and in-person, over an eight-month period. Candidates will learn from industry leaders with extensive experience in long-term care and those with specific knowledge that will improve the skills, knowledge and abilities of nurse leaders. Description of the program: The Nurse Leadership Academy takes place over eight months and requires an extensive commitment on the part of the facility and the candidate. The candidate will receive a minimum of 25 continuing education credits for participating in this program. The candidate will also receive half price registration for any LeadingAge Nebraska education events during the course of the Academy, including the Fall Symposium and the Spring Annual Conference. Candidates will be recognized for their achievement at the Annual Conference on March 13, 2024 in Kearney, Nebraska. Candidates: Candidates for the Nurse Leadership Academy must be employed by current members of LeadingAge Nebraska. For membership options contact Kierstin Reed, CEO at [email protected]. They must hold a valid Registered Nurse license from the state of Nebraska. They must also have a minimum of six months experience as an RN in any setting. There will be a minimum of 12 participants and a maximum of 24 participants. Application: Candidates must complete the application to provide information regarding the interest in participation in the Nurse Leadership Academy. The application outlines the dates of both in person and virtual events. The candidate, and their facility must sign that they agree to participation and payment for the entire Academy process. Applications will be accepted from June 1 through July 15 July 25, 2023. Tuition: PRICE REDUCED! Tuition is $2,500 $1,500 per participant. Refreshment breaks and lunches for each of the in-person sessions are included in the tuition fee as well as dinner with faculty, mentors and participants on the first night of each two-day session. A $100 refundable deposit will be required at application and must be paid in full by August 23rd. The deposit will be refunded to applicant if not selected; the deposit will apply to Academy fees if accepted into the Academy. No cancellations, refunds, or partial refunds will be processed after the application deadline. Substitutions are left to the discretion of the selection committee. Sponsoring facilities agree to provide tuition in full and cover any other travel, meals, and lodging costs associated with the program for all in person sessions. It is necessary to make a firm commitment to allow the participant to attend all in person and online events and to allow them to participate in activities throughout the academy process. As part of participation in this program, the participant will also receive half price registration on events provided by LeadingAge Nebraska over the course of the Academy. Continuing Education: 30 hours of continuing education from Nebraska DHHS Regulation and Licensure, Board of NHA has been approved for the Nurse Leadership Academy. Appropriate records will be maintained for other disciplines to receive credit from their credentialing organizations. Continuing education credit dependent upon attendance verification. 30 nursing contact hours for all nurses, provided by IWCC, Iowa’s Board of Nursing Provider #6.
